The Whistle Stop Restaurant in historic Glendale, Kentucky, has been voted best non franchise restaurant since 2010. A few of their popular dishes include fried chicken (hand dipped and fried when ordered), pork chops fried in a cast-iron skillet and double-dipped fried green tomatoes. The restaurant cooks in southern tradition, with recipes that have been handed down through the years. And don’t forget their made-from-scratch desserts, such as the coconut meringue pie, named BEST IN KENTUCKY by Southern Living magazine!
